Denim Upcycling Workshop
Denim Upcycling Workshop
2 x 2.5 hr Night Classes
6pm – 8:30 pm Thursday and Friday
The Creative Collective Brisbane, 31 Hayward Street, Stafford.
A creative workshop in re-purposing old garments and textiles, with a focus on upcycling jeans.
Upcycling isn’t just about mend and make do, it can be about creating something new and unique. Explore your creativity and learn my favourite ways to breathe life into old worn out jeans and make them useful again.
On night one we’ll discuss breakdown methods. Uses for various parts of the jeans. Tips for making a project successful. Visible mending and hand stitching. The plan is for you to go away with ideas and inspiration to think about for night two where we’ll tackle your individual project. You’ll plan out your project and I’ll help you to make it happen.
If there’s anything specific you’d like to learn let me know beforehand, as early as possible, and I try my hardest to plan it into the lesson.
Skill level: Open to beginners upwards – but we highly recommend having basic sewing skills (i.e. be able to thread up a machine and sew a straight line without supervision) before you get started. Feel free to enrol in Sewing machine Basics Workshop or learn to sew 4 week short course beforehand, in order to maximise your time in this class. I’m only currently running these classes in Ripley (Ipswich)
You Need: Notebook and pen, jeans, fabric or old garments (There will be a selection of fabrics you can use at the workshop)
